Landon Collins

The Raiders lack leadership and toughness on the defensive side of the ball, and Landon Collins could provide that and more for them. He is a tackling machine, and though not great in coverage this season he’s definitely shown ability. And he will only be 25 when next season starts, so he is heading right into his prime years.

Unfortunately for Collins, he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury that required surgery so his market may not be as high as he would like it to be. On the other hand, this could be a positive for the Raiders as breaking the bank for him might not be as bad as it once sounded. He has expressed a desire to stay in New York, and the team could franchise him if they really want to, but Collins has said he has no desire to be tagged so doing that could cause problems between the two sides.

If the Giants let him hit the open market, the Raiders with more cap space can easily win a bidding war if they really want to. Spotrac has his contract ranging around 5 yrs and $46 million.

Oakland has nothing secure at the safety position at the moment and can go in multiple directions. Karl Joseph has definitely had a strong second half of the season, but who knows if this staff will swallow their pride and admit his talent or chose to move on anyway.  They may feel the need to find their guy and Collins could be it. Pairing him with a good free safety in the draft like Deionte Thompson or Nasir Adderley and the Raiders could finally solve their never-ending issues on the back end.
