Arrowhead is Derek Carr’s Kryptonite

Raiders quarterback Derek Carr had himself a season despite the Silver and Black’s losing record. Until the first quarter of Sunday’s game, he hadn’t thrown an interception in 332 passes, the third longest streak in the league. He also set a career-high for most passing yards, surpassing the 4,000-yard mark for the first time and becoming one of only three Raiders to do so. Carr also surpassed his single-season best for completions, and broke the record for most completions in a player’s first five seasons.

While the team struggled, Carr put up record numbers. That being said, Arrowhead is his kryptonite. Carr has proven he can beat the Chiefs at O.co, but he now holds an  0–5 record on the road in Kansas City. He simply cannot seem to win at Arrowhead. Maybe it’s the deafening crowd noise, or maybe he’s just in his own head at this point.

Carr, who averages 240 yards per game, has never thrown for more than 222 yards at Arrowhead and has never recorded more than one touchdown. If the Raiders want to progress as a team, Carr needs to break the Kansas City curse.
