Add depth to safety

Heading into the 2018 NFL season, the Raiders knew that they had issues at the safety position. They brought in Marcus Gilchrist to add depth to the unit, and were hoping that former first round pick Karl Joseph would actually start to step up and look like a first round talent in year three in the league.

Well, the safety spot actually saw some incredible growth, as Joseph was a beast in year three, and looks to be a guy who can help lead this secondary moving forward along with cornerback Gareon Conely. Erik Harris really stepped up in a starting role towards the end of the season, and should add good depth on this team moving forward.

Gilchrist is going to be a free agent in 2019, and the team may decide to move on from him. There is no way they bring back Reggie Nelson next season, as he is just too old to be a productive player in the league anymore, so you can expect the Raiders to be players at the position group in the draft, and via free agency.
