Re-sign: Jared Cook

This one is a no-brainer, as Jared Cook has been the best option in the passing game for Derek Carr over the past two seasons. Cook will be a free agent this offseason, and you have to think that bringing him back on a two-or-three year deal is the plan for Jon Gruden and the rest of the powers that be.

Coming over to Oakland back in 2017, nobody really knew what to expect from Cook, who had shown flashes of brillance during his career, but never really put it together. After leading the team in receiving that first season, he took another step forward in 2018, setting career highs in receptions, yards, and touchdowns to name a few.

It appears Mayock is going to roll with Carr as his quarterback moving forward, and that is a smart move by the rookie general manager. The next move is to lock up Cook, who is Carr’s security blanket, and has turned into one of the better pass-catching tight ends in the league.
