Cut: Donald Penn

Since coming over to the Raiders, Donald Penn has been a mainstay on the left side of the line, but he has really struggled to stay healthy in recent years. After missing time in 2017, he missed nearly all of the season in 2018, and lost his left tackle job to rookie Kolton Miller.

Penn is one of the better offensive tackles this organization has seen in a while, but his time as an elite player at the position is long gone. The Raiders got younger at tackle by selecting Miller and Brandon Parker early in the 2018 NFL Draft, and Penn’s cap number is just starting to get to a place where it is a detriment to this team improving as a whole.

The cap hit for the Raiders if Penn is still with the team is $7.6 million, and he just is not worth that kind of money anymore. If they decide to go another route, he will only count as $2.75 million in dead cap money, and while he may be back with the team, that is a big difference in cash for the organization.
