Jalen Richard

I know what you’re probably thinking. Why bring back Jalen Richard when Marshawn Lynch is available? Well I’m pretty sure we’ve seen the last of Lynch in the NFL. There’s no reason to believe otherwise, especially with the uncertainty of where the Raiders will play in 2019. Richard isn’t so much a must resign, but it would be ideal to bring him back.

The same theme continues. It’s the fact that he’s familiar with the players and the system. The running back room will have gotten significantly smaller once free agency hits. Only DeAndre Washington and Chris Warren III will have occupied seats. Rather than scrounging to fill spots at the position, bringing back Richard makes the free agent market a whole lot easier.

There isn’t much clarity as to what Richards market will be, but I’m certain some teams will take interest. It’s all a matter on if Richard still wants to be here. It’s not like the Raiders are going to offer him a thick contract. Richard has all the leverage since he’s a dual threat. He’s capable to break off a run and is a consistent back in the pass game.

The main knock on him now is his vision out of the backfield, which is fine since he’s not an every down back. That’s an aspect coaches can work on with him. Richard should be brought back in the silver and black because of his value, but I have a feeling we may have seen the last of him.
