Kyle Phillips – Defensive End, Tennessee
You would be surprised how much talent the Tennessee Volunteers have had over the years despite their lack of success on the field.
Kyle Phillips is a former five-star recruit that just sort of fell by the wayside at Tennessee given their lack of consistent and quality coaching. He has great size at 6’4 270 lbs, but draft analyst will get a good sense of the type of athlete he this week in St. Petersburg.
What I like about him in the few clips I’ve seen is his power and ability to set the edge in the run game. That is something the Raiders don’t get at all from their current defensive ends and was one of the many aspects taken for granted when they traded Khalil Mack. Phillips could be someone who is able to provide that skill set and then perhaps bring depth and power pass rush on the edge or interior of the defensive line depending on his athletic testing.
