Tyree St. Louis – Offensive Tackle, Miami
When Tom Cable begins digging deep into the tape for the draft Tyree St. Louis will definitely jump out to him. He is 6’5 310 lbs and has the athletic traits that were the theme of Oakland’s draft philosophy last season. Mobile in space, quick feet, strength and raw technique wise.
It’ll be interesting to read how he fairs in one on one drills during the week of practice.
St. Louis started 34 straight games at Miami, so he is experienced, and though he played left tackle this season, he did his best work at right tackle, and we know the issues Brandon Parker had particularly in pass protection.
I could see from a coaching perspective why it wouldn’t be a bad idea to take someone like St. Louis who can develop behind Parker and not force the offense to change its approach schematically since they are similar style players. I think most fans including myself have serious doubt about Cable ability to develop these talents he admires so much, but there no denying that St. Louis fits his mold.
