Daniel Wise – Defensive Tackle, Kansas

I stated earlier that KeeSean Johnson was being talked about by multiple guys at the Shrine week. Well, even he took a back seat to Daniel Wise who reportedly dominated the entire week of practice.

Playing at Kansas will leave you unnoticed these days, but when you look at Wise’s stats, he was producing even though the team was one of the worst in college football. He finished his career with 17.0 sacks and 43 tackles for loss. Watching clips of him at the Shrine practices, Wise has excellent pad level off the snap and is able to beat double teams because of it. He also has quickness and is able to shoot gaps which help lead to his high tackle for loss numbers.

All-star games usually bring people back to a players tape, and I think Wise will benefit greatly from that. For the Raiders, in particular, pass rush depth not only on the edge but the interior too is a great way to help turn this defense around immediately.
