2019 NFL Draft: Staff predictions for the Oakland Raiders first round

Jordan Alexis’ picks
4. Edge Brian Burns, Florida State
I’m making this pick with the assumption that players like Josh Allen and Quinnen Williams will be off the board. I’ve also seen names like Clelin Ferrell and Rashan Gary show up in other mock drafts, but I just think Brain Burns is better than them. He has all the tools you want from an edge rusher in terms of athleticism, flexibility and a big variety of pass rush moves.
From everything I’ve read he has a very high football IQ knowing how to use his hands and has a plan of attack not only as a pass rusher but as a run defender too. Burns may not be the name that is getting a ton top ten notoriety at the moment but by the time draft day comes around I think that will change.
24. S Nasir Adderley, Delaware
The Raiders need playmakers on the back end of their defense and Nasir Adderley can fill that role. He has the range, awareness, and the ball skills to patrol the middle of the field along with the physicality to make tackles downhill.
He didn’t really get to show his true skill set at the senior bowl practices because free safeties usually don’t get much action. However, in the actual game, he showed his playmaking ability and Jon Gruden seemed to love it so Adderley is definitely on the radar.
27. TE Noah Fant, Iowa
This draft has some serious depth at pass catcher and Noah Fant is one of the elites. If Jared Cook leaves in free agency Fant can come in the provide much of what Cook did in 2018. And even is Cook stays Fant is so versatile as a receiver that he can matchup up on the outside and in the slot.
Fant has a rare combination of great athleticism at the tight end position while also understand the nuances of being a pass catcher. He is not the best blocker in the world but shows a willingness and if the Raiders take him they’re getting a matchup nightmare for defenses.
