The Raiders certainly need help at the cornerback position, so it would not be surprising if they dip in and select one even earlier than the fourth round this April. However, they also have a ton of other issues on both sides of the ball, and should still be able to get a contributing player this late in the draft.

Last year, Oakland spent a fourth round pick on Wisconsin cornerback Nick Nelson, who showed that he has the talent to be a solid player at the NFL level. He is going to continue to get better, and after a breakout season from 2017 first rounder Gareon Conley, the Raiders suddenly have depth at the cornerback position.

The Raiders still have to re-sign Daryl Worley, who is slated to be a free agent, but he has shown some love to head coach Jon Gruden since the season ended. If the Raiders are to be competitive in the AFC West moving forward, they have to be better against the pass, and this draft class can certainly help them do just that.
