The Oakland Raiders gave up a third round pick to get Martavis Bryant from the Pittsburgh Steelers, but should he be back for another year in 2019?

During the 2018 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders made a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers to acquire wide receiver Martavis Bryant for a third round draft pick. At the time, it looked like a pretty good move, as Bryant, when actually eligible to play, was one of the more exciting wide receivers in football.

However, as the summer wore on, there were continued rumors of Bryant getting suspended for the umpteenth time in his NFL career. The Raiders decided to cut him prior to the 2018 NFL season, but brought him back during the year after the suspension rumors subsided.

Towards the end of the season, Bryant suffered an injury, and was eventually suspended by the league. While he is a multi-time offender, he actually could be eligible to return to the NFL by training camp, but would the Raiders actually kick the tires on bringing him back for a second season.

When Bryant was actually on the field, he did not do much, appearing in only eight games, while making two starts. For the season, Bryant hauled in 19 receptions for only 266 yards, and did not find the end zone once.

There are a lot of other ways the Raiders could go in regards to the wide receiver position, and while the team gave away a third round pick for his services last season, it just did not work out. Sure, he has the talent to be an explosive player in this league, but is running out of chances, and the Raiders need to get stability at the position moving forward.

Oakland holds three first round picks in April, and they also have an early second round pick. There are a handful of players they could select within those first four picks, as we dove into that this past week, and while Bryant will likely get a chance with an NFL team in 2019, it should not be the Silver and Black.
