Quarterback

I will say up front I’m not the biggest Derek Carr supporter, but the notion of replacing him with one of the quarterbacks in this draft is beyond ridiculous to me. The quarterback class this year is not worth it, and even the top guys like Dwayne Haskins, Kyler Murray, and Drew Lock don’t seem like fits for Gruden’s scheme.

Unless they want to draft a prospect in the later rounds and see if they can develop a capable backup, but even that sounds unlikely since Gruden seems like he prefers veteran guys at the backup spot.

The Raiders should do everything they can this offseason to give Carr the best chance to succeed, and if he’s inconsistent like he was in 2018, then you might have to think about moving on. Backup A.J. McCarron is slated to make good money to be the man behind Carr in 2019, and they may want to just pay him and worry about other position groups this offseason.
