The Oakland Raiders will kick off their 2019 NFL Draft with the No. 4 overall pick, and there is really only one area of need I can see them addressing this early. Last season, the Raiders were absolutely awful on the edge, and with the No. 4 pick, they should look to land a player like Rashan Gary from Michigan.
By the time the Raiders pick at four, guys like Nick Bosa and Josh Allen should be off the board, that is unless teams trade up to select a quarterback early in round one. In Gary, they would be bringing in a player who is perfectly suited for Paul Guenther’s defense, and someone who is going to be a disruptive force in year one.
Of course, you are never going to replace the kind of impact Khalil Mack had on the edge, but they have to start piecing together a unit that can get to the quarterback at least more than the 13 times they did last season. Teaming Gary with second-year player Arden Key is a good start, but the organization may want to spend some money on a veteran edge rusher as well this offseason.
