Jason Verrett

Before the injury bug bit him, Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Jason Verrett was a stalwart player. In 2015, Pro Football Focus had Verrett tied for the highest coverage grade among all cornerbacks with a 90.9 and added three interceptions. Verrett definitely deserves to be looked at and should garner a lot of attention in free agency. The Oakland Raiders need to be in the front of that line for his services.

I don’t care if they have to cut someone in line or stiff arm a team out. Verrett should be on the Raiders free agent list. Take a chance on him. There is no risk at all to signing him on a flier.

I understand that signing someone who has been cursed with injuries the last few seasons isn’t appealing. But it’s not like the team is going to drop serious cash on him.

It would be assuredly be a one year incentive based prove it deal like we have seen plenty of times in the league. Most recently Richard Sherman signed a deal like that with the San Francisco 49ers last season.

5 FA inside linebackers the Raiders should target. dark. Next

That has paid off dividends for the 49ers since Sherman his playing at a high level again. It’s no risk, high reward. If there is mutual interest, the Oakland Raiders should pull the trigger and sign Jason Verrett.
