Oakland Raiders seen as favorite to land Antonio Brown

Antonio Brown is looking for a new home for the 2019 NFL season, and the Oakland Raiders appear to be a favorite to land the star wide receiver.

The Oakland Raiders have a major hole at the wide receiver position heading into 2019, as there is Jordy Nelson and very little else. Outside of 2018 seventh rounder Marcell Ateman, and possibly Seth Roberts, the lack of depth at the position is pretty alarming, so it would make sense that the position group would be a target this offseason.

Holding three first round picks, and an early second rounder, the Raiders have the draft capital to go out and select one of the marquee wideouts in the 2019 NFL Draft class. However, the team has recently been linked to one of the better wideouts we have seen in a long time, as they are considered a favorite to land Pittsburgh Steelers star Antonio Brown.

Peter King posted his Football Monday in America piece on Monday, and he named the five likely landing spots for AB. The Raiders cracked the list, as they have the draft capital to swing a trade, and the position is one of the bigger needs for the team heading into the offseason.

King listed the Raiders alongside the Carolina Panthers, New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Washington Redskins, leaving out the San Francisco 49ers, who some feel is the favorite to land Brown. Oakland certainly has a need, and he would work well in Jon Gruden’s offense, in addition to playing with a very good quarterback in Derek Carr.

Landing Brown would be a big move for this current regime, who has recently preached that they want to bring in young players to build around. Brown has been the elite wideout in football for the last six seasons, and you have to wonder what kind of weapon he could be in Gruden’s offense, with Carr getting him the ball.
