Gruden’s work ethic

Mike Mayock is known for being a tireless worker, as his co-workers at the NFL Network have spoken glowingly about the tenacity he brings to work everyday. With the Raiders, he will have to match that intensity with head coach Jon Gruden, who is widely known as one of the hardest workers in the NFL.

Speaking with the media on Wednesday, Mayock spoke of getting to work at 5:30 in the morning, only to see Gruden already at his desk. The good news is that the Raiders have a general manager willing to put in the hours, because you can be sure Gruden was expecting no less from Mayock in his first season as a GM.

Reggie McKenzie was a tireless worker as well, so I am not saying he wasn’t, but it is refreshing that Mayock will be able to match Gruden’s intensity. This is going to be quite the project, turning around this franchise, and it appears the Raiders have the right two players leading the charge in 2019 and beyond.
