With their third of three first round picks, the Raiders should stay on the defensive side of the ball, bringing in a linebacker that can help them immediately. Oakland got great production late in the season from free agent signing Tahir Whitehead, and at No. 27 overall, they could grab a player to play opposite him on the outside next season.
That player could be Devin Bush, who has the rare ability to play sideline to sideline, and is one of the better tacklers in this draft class. Bush showed during his time at Michigan that he can be a difference maker at the outside linebacker position, and the Raiders need depth there in the worst way.
If the Raiders go with a linebacker with their third first round pick, they would have focused on all three levels of their defense, which could vastly improve the unit next season. Paul Guenther is a solid defensive coordinator, and if the Raiders invest in that side of the ball this offseason, he will have a lot of talent to work with in year two.
