During his time at Wyoming, Andrew Wingard was named a first-team All-Mountain West player three times, and finished his career as the all-time leader in school history in tackles. Wingard was invited to the NFL scouting combine, so Jon Gruden and his staff will get a good look at him this weekend.
The safety position needs more than just one body added to it this offseason, as they have three of their four players entering free agency. Wingard would be a solid find this late in the draft, as he is a fantastic tackler, and plays with the kind of passion Gruden loves.
Jalen Hurd started his college career at the University of Tennessee, starring as the team’s halfback. By the time he made it to Baylor, he was moved to the wide receiver position, and when it comes time for him to shine at the combine, he will be one of the more impressive athletes the scouts will see.
Adding a player like Hurd to the position group would be a positive in the seventh round, much like Marcell Ateman was last year. Hurd is a guy who can flat out fly, and showed during his time at Tennessee, and Baylor that he can be the hardest working guy on the field, which is exactly the kind of player Gruden wants to bring aboard this offseason.
