On Thursday, the Raiders locked up Erik Harris on a two-year extension, bringing back the fan favorite who had a breakout season in the Raiders defensive backfield in 2018. Harris and Karl Joseph are both under contract for 2019, but that does not mean the team will not invest heavily in the position group this offseason.

One of the bigger stars of the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine was Virginia safety Juan Thornhill, who could have played himself into being an earlier pick than the third round. However, he could certainly be there when the Raiders pick at No. 66 overall, and would be an excellent fit to this secondary.

Thornhill has excellent closing skills, and would be a perfect compliment to both Joseph and Harris at safety. With those three players leading the position group, and with added talent at cornerback, this Raiders secondary could be something special in 2019 and beyond.
