During the last two seasons, tight end Jared Cook has led the Oakland Raiders in receiving yards, and it is pretty obvious that the team would like him back. However, with all the money this team has been spending, it may not be in the cards to bring him back, as he already appears to be a hot commodity around the league.
When it comes to the tight end position in this draft class, the two kids from Iowa really standout, T.J. Hockenson and Noah Fant. While Hockenson has been regularly mocked to be in the first round, Fant is a guy who could be an early second-rounder, which is perfect for the Raiders, who have the third pick in the second round.
Adding Fant to a group that includes Lee Smith, Derek Carrier, and Darren Waller would be an excellent pick at No. 35 overall, as he has that playmaking ability the team will need to replace with Cook gone. He is a terrific pass-catcher, handles himself well in the blocking game, and for Oakland, would be a nice security blanket for Carr in the middle of the field.
