Oakland Raiders: 4 defensive free agents the team should target
By Sanjit T.
Tre Boston, FS
One of the most significant needs for the Raiders is a player who can cover tight ends. Karl Joseph hasn’t been able to do it, and Erik Harris struggled as well. Although they brought in Lamarcus Joyner, the rumors are he will be playing a lot of corner.
Tre Boston could come in for the Raiders and be a very nice rotational player.
Boston is very versatile and vastly underrated as a coverage safety. Last year, he allowed a 61.0 NFL rating, which was the 6th best in the NFL among safeties. What’s most impressive about Boston is how he’s used.
In addition in 2018, 5.5% of the time Boston lined up as a pass rusher on the line of scrimmage. 20% of the time he lined up at linebacker, and 11.5% of the time he lined up as a cornerback. He was all over the field and can come very cheap for the Raiders.
