Oakland Raiders add interior offensive line help in Jordan Devey

The Oakland Raiders added some depth in the interior of their offensive line on Thursday, agreeing to a deal with Jordan Devey.

The Oakland Raiders lost two interior offensive linemen this offseason, as they traded away Kelechi Osemele, and saw Jon Feliciano leave via free agency. That has left the offensive line with little depth in the interior, so they went out and added some on Thursday.

Oakland signed former Kansas City Chiefs center Jordan Devey to a contract for the upcoming season, bringing over the big fella who started two games for the Chiefs last season. Devey has made stops in New England, Baltimore, and San Francisco prior to going to the Chiefs, where he has spent the last three seasons.

In Devey, the Raiders acquire a guy who can play both center, and guard, giving them the kind of versatility they were missing behind the starters on the depth chart. He is a veteran player who has the ability to fill in at both spots, and based on the injuries we saw from this team last season, they need someone who can do that.

The Raiders have done a fantastic job adding talent to the roster this offseason, and while Devey is not a big name, he does fill a need on the roster. Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock have this team pointed in the right direction, and they still hold the most draft capital in the first round next April.

The loss of Osemele is going to hurt this season, and the team still needs to find out who will start at right guard in 2019, with Jackson likely headed to the left side. Devey is a nice addition to this roster, who will fill the void left by the departing Feliciano.
