24. Clelin Ferrell – Edge Rusher, Clemson

As I said earlier, the Raiders have put themselves in a position where one edge rusher might not be enough in this draft. So with Oakland already getting a speed rusher like Josh Allen at the top of the draft, Oakland should look for a different style of an edge rusher in Clemson’s Clelin Ferrell.

After the national championship, it would have seemed crazy to think Ferrell could fall to the second half of the first round, but now not so much. The draft process as elevated guys like Montez Sweat and Rashan Gary which could lead to Ferrell falling. The athletic limitations in terms of flexibility and burst are evident with Ferrell as he’s someone who relies more on technique. He also did not record any explosive drills (vertical & broad jump) which are not helping his cause in terms of team’s concerns.

With all the being said, he is still a great prospect, and if the Raiders could come away with him and Allen, the future would certainly be bright. Ferrell has multiple rush move and counters that will give tackles a challenge from day one. He is quick at recognition and powerful which helps him not only as a pass rusher but in run defense too which he excels at. Unlike many of the prospects the Raiders have taken recently, Ferrell is a well-rounded high floor player where you pretty much know what you’re getting.
