Former Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Ryan Grant signed with the Oakland Raiders. His addition further adds quality depth to receiver group.

The frenzy and excitement of free agency is just about dissipated. However, that does not mean the Oakland Raiders will stop poaching for hidden talent. This is the point in free agency where teams are able to sign players to cheap and friendly deals.

Essentially any and every signing around this time only benefits the Raiders with no consequences.

A player that they and Derek Carr will benefit from is newly signed wide receiver Ryan Grant formerly of the Indianapolis Colts. His addition to the team should come as no surprise since the Raiders hosted Grant for a visit last offseason.

They were not able to ink a deal then as they went in favor of signing Jordy Nelson.

Bringing Ryan Grant into the mix of the Raiders’ receivers is an underrated signing. He’ll possibly be in line for multiple target games. I’m talking at least five or more, which considering the depth chart, is a heavy workload.

Grant’s signing may mean the end of Seth Robert’s tenure with the Raiders. Roberts can be cut prior to June 1 with no dead money. Grant is the better receiver anyways in every facet.

He’s a sharp route runner and can actually catch consistently along with blocking successfully. I don’t want to over-hype Ryan Grant because his role and usage is still up in the air. It’s not like he’s going to put up enormous numbers.

He did only reel in 35 catches with Andrew Luck as his quarterback. Then again, defenses are going to have their hands full with Antonio Brown to even slightly stress over him.

Ryan Grant’s best season was only two years ago with the Washington Redskins. He totaled 45 catches 573 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He’ll have his opportunities with Derek Carr, it’ll just depend on if he can take advantage of them. Once again, this another nice addition to the team with little excitement.
