Toughness

Because he isn’t as dominant a blocker as Hockenson, there’s this notion that Fant is not a tough player, but that is far from the truth. For starters, if there is a ball thrown in traffic Fant is going to come down with it.

I don’t mean traffic in terms of him “Mossing” guys but if there are passes in tight windows with bodies closing in he appears to be very comfortable. And in the open field, he is willing to lower his shoulder and fight for extra yards if necessary.

Then when it comes to the run blocking, he shows a complete willingness and is able combo block and move in space. His technique is definitely working progress as is his strength at the point of attack.

However, he is not a player that shows no interest at all when it comes to blocking and should be given a lot more credit than he currently receives.
