Oakland Raiders 7-round 2019 NFL mock draft 6.0
By Sanjit T.
If there was one player that I think is being underrated this year, Clemson inside linebacker, Tre Lamar. Walter Football had a first-round grade on him early in the draft process. Most mocks have a sixth to seventh round grade on him, however, if Oakland wants a young linebacker to take over for Vontaze Burfict and continue running Paul Guenther’s scheme, Lamar is the guy.
When I watch Lamar’s tape, it’s evident he is a true 3-4 inside linebacker or a 4-3 Strong Side linebacker. He will play his best football against running plays on first and second down. He isn’t great against the pass but is easily one of the top-3 linebackers against the run in this draft class.
The main reason he struggles vs. the pass is that he’s 6-3, 255 pounds. The guy is huge. And it shows on his tape. He is an imposing linebacker that will flatten offensive linemen. He had almost 40 impactful stops for the national championship defense against the run, according to Pro Football Focus.
Although he had guys like Clelin Ferrell and Christian Wilkins in front of him, those guys also had him on the backend. His tape shows me a big linebacker who makes every read on the inside. If Lamar is there in the 7th round, I’d be truly shocked, and the Raiders would be wise to pick him up.
