The Oakland Raiders will kick off their 2019 offseason program on Monday, kicking off what should be an incredible couple of months for the franchise.
The Oakland Raiders will start their team activities on Monday, as they kick off Phase 1 of their offseason workout program. The entire offseason workout program will consist of three different phases, with the first two weeks of Phase 1 being strictly strength and conditioning and physical rehab.
In Phase 2, the Raiders will have three weeks of on-field workouts, but still cannot have any live contract. They can do positional drills, and start to break off into small groups, but cannot go team offense against team defense.
The final phase, Phase 3, will include the OTAs, which is a ten-day run that they can go 7-on-7, as well as 9-on-7 and 11-on-11. There still cannot be any live contact, but we will start to get a better look at what the position groups look like in terms of depth.
Of course, the first depth chart will not be released until the preseason.
The 2019 NFL Draft will kick off on April 25, so the rookies will not be available until Phase 2 of the workout program. Rookies will have their own minicamp in May.
This Oakland roster has been turned over in a big way this offseason, as new general manager Mike Mayock has brought in a ton of talent via trades, and free agency. There are still holes to fill, including at the edge rusher position, and it would not be surprising if the team used two of their three first round picks on that spot.
Mandatory minicamp will kick off on June 11, and will run through the 13th, and that is where the preseason really starts to ramp up. The Raiders preseason schedule is already out, but we have a long way to go before we get there, as they look to revamp this roster heading into a very important 2019 season.
