After the Oakland Raiders host Iowa tight end Noah Fant on Monday, they will welcome in LSU linebacker Devin White for two days.
The Oakland Raiders hold three first round picks later this month, and Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden have been doing their due diligence when it comes to the draft prospects. They have been looking at everybody, from Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray, to Delaware safety Nasir Adderley, whom Gruden coached in the Senior Bowl.
As we inch ever so close to the first round, you can expect the team to bring in a couple of the bigger named prospects for private interviews. On Monday, they are bringing in Iowa tight end Noah Fant for a visit, and he could be the answer at the position in 2019 after losing Jared Cook to free agency.
Fant is one of the two top tight end prospects in this draft class, joining teammate T.J. Hockenson. A solid pass-catcher, Fant is a guy who could be a solid weapon for quarterback Derek Carr, who has seen his wide receiver group revamped this offseason by bringing in Antonio Brown, Tyrell Williams, and J.J. Nelson.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Oakland plans to meet with the best overall linebacker in this draft class, as they will meet with Devin White from LSU. White is one of those rare linebackers who can play sideline to sideline, and is an absolutely punishing tackler.
Oakland holds the No. 4, 24, and 27 picks in the first round, though Mayock has spoken about adding some picks on Day 2. There is a real possibility that the team trades away one of their first round picks for a couple Day 2 selections, so they must hit a home run with the picks they keep.
There are only ten days remaining until the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and both of these players would be solid additions to the Raiders within their first three picks. Fant may not be a target at No. 4, but White appears to be, and the Raiders certainly could use the help at the linebacker position.
