Pete Hernandez’s 2019 win-loss prediction prior to the 2019 NFL Draft

I was especially generous in last season’s prediction, hoping that the return of Jon Gruden would provide the extra edge to get this Raiders team to the next level. Instead, most of that same team has been shipped off (via trade or else) and now a year later, Oakland is looking at one of, if not the toughest schedule in the NFL (what does the league have against the Silver and Black?)

I still want to keep hopes alive for the Raiders’ last season in Oakland, but they indeed have a daunting schedule ahead of them (including playing at the Coliseum in September, and not returning until the beginning of November). Amidst that road trip is a re-match with Khalil Mack and the Chicago Bears in London. Historically, Oakland has not fared well across the pond.

The additions of Antonio Brown and Trent Brown headline a revamped offensive line and boost in receiving weapons for Derek Carr. As such, I expect the offense to be more aggressive and keep much more games within reach. The performance of the defense, however, will need to hinge on how well Gruden and Mike Mayock fare in the draft. The future of the Raiders might bank on the execution of those three first round picks.

like Oakland’s chances at home against division rivals like the Broncos and Chargers. I still feel the gap is too large against Kansas City. How the Raiders fare on the road will tell whether we see an increase in wins, or we see more of the same from last year.
