The Oakland Raiders traded a fourth round pick for Jason Campbell back in 2010, and he certainly proved his worth before an injury ended his tenure with the team.
For a time, the Oakland Raiders looked like Jason Campbell would lead them to the AFC Playoffs. Campbell came to the Raiders on Day 3 of the 2010 NFL Draft, as the team traded away a fourth round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft to the Washington Redskins for his services.
12 days later, Oakland would waive former No. 1 overall pick Jamarcus Russell, who would go down in history as one of the biggest draft busts the NFL has ever seen. In Campbell, the Raiders were getting a solid starter, and he proved his worth over the next two seasons.
During his short tenure with the team, Campbell led the Silver and Black to a record above .500, as the team finished 8-8 in 2010, a mark that included a perfect record in the AFC West. In 2011, the team was sitting at 4-2 when he injured his back, and he never played for the team again.
Still, despite his small run with the Raiders, when ESPN rated the most impactful draft-day trades for each NFL team in history, the trade for Campbell as picked. Campbell never became the player Al Davis was hoping he would when he traded for him, but he finished his career in Oakland with an 11-7 mark, including a 19-to-12 touchdown-to-interception ratio.
After leaving Oakland, Campbell bounced around between the Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, and Cincinnati Bengals, but the Raiders were the only team he had a winning record with.
With three first round picks in 2019, the Raiders could swing another monster draft-day trade, as they certainly have the capital to move up and down on Thursday. Oakland has a lot of holes left to fill, and only one Day 2 pick, No. 35 overall, so expect them to be very active on draft night.
