The Oakland Raiders made their third pick in the first round at No. 27, selecting Mississippi State safety Johnathan Abram, and Twitter reacted.
The Oakland Raiders wrapped up their three first round draft picks by adding to their secondary on Thursday night, bringing in a safety. That man would end up being Johnathan Abram from Mississippi State, who was the No. 1 overall player at his position in this draft class.
For Abram, this is a perfect fit for him to start his NFL career, as he will get the opportunity to play right away. Raiders fans are going to love the way he attacks the game, as he is one of the hardest hitting defensive backs in this draft class.
Oakland already has Karl Joseph at the position, and re-signed Erik Harris this offseason. In addition, they brought in Lamarcus Joyner from the Los Angeles Rams, but he will slide down to be the slot corner for the Raiders in 2019.
Here is how Twitter reacted.
Ian Rapoport says he is the best safety in the class
The #Raiders select MSU safety Johnathan Abram with the No. 27 pick. Very high character player who teams loved. The top safety off the board.

Didn’t play in Senior Bowl due to injury
Raiders draft former Mississippi St. safety Johnathan Abram with No. 27 overall pick. He was invited to Senior Bowl (on side the Raiders didn't coach) but didn't participate due to injury.

The Raiders are not only getting a good player here, but an incredibly good person, as he is a guy who certainly has his head on straight. This is a secondary that is going to be so much better in 2019, and Abram should be a guy who starts from Day One for the Silver and Black.
The No. 27 overall pick was the third, and final pick the Raiders went into the first round with, though they could trade back in if they wanted to. They only have one Day 2 pick heading into Friday, and Mike Mayock wanted to add selections, but it will be seen if he and Jon Gruden are happy with their haul.
