The Oakland Raiders picked up their second cornerback of the 2019 NFL Draft in Round 4, selecting Isaiah Johnson from the University of Houston.
With the No. 129 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders drafted Isaiah Johnson, a speedy cornerback out of the University of Houston. Johnson is the second cornerback the Raiders have drafted so far in 2019, joining Clemson’s Trayvon Mullen, who the Raiders took in Round 2.
Johnson is an interesting choice at 129, but based on his skill set, he is going to be a solid addition to this roster. The secondary in Oakland has been an issue for years, so the Mike Mayock is definitely addressing that need in this draft.
The Raiders still have three selections left in the 2019 NFL Draft, including pick No. 135. They still have a lot of holes to fill, but with the way this draft is shaping up, they should be able to get value this late in the game.
Here is how Twitter reacted after the pick.
Congrats to @UHCougarFB CB Isaiah Johnson, selected in the 4th round with the 129th overall pick in the 2019 #NFLDraft by the @Raiders!

Raiders drafted CB Isaiah Johnson with next pick in fourth round. Another top athlete on SPARQ metric. High upside. pic.twitter.com/ZxxyfVB05J

5 defensive players so far
The Raiders draft Isaiah Johnson, a DB from Houston. The 5th time the Raiders have gone defense in their first six picks. An obvious sign that the Raiders are quickly trying to improve that side of the ball, after giving up the most points in the NFL last season.

Raiders got a good look at the Senior Bowl
Raiders coached vs. CB Isaiah Johnson at Senior Bowl. He clocked at 4.4 seconds in 40-yard dash at combine at 6 feet, 2 inches and 208 pounds. Johnson converted from WR in college. Another physical, speedy press CB for DC Paul Guenther and staff to develop.

The Raiders will pick again at No. 135 overall, as they added two picks from the Indianapolis Colts for the No. 109 overall selection. Johnson is a solid player, and is a great value at this pick, and will be a welcome addition to this Raiders defensive backfield.
