NFL Draft 2019 Results: Analysis on all Oakland Raiders draft picks
Round 2, Pick No. 40: Trayvon Mullen, CB, Clemson
Being the resident corner that I am here at JustBlogBaby, I couldn’t help but absolutely love this pick. Not only does it address the Oakland Raiders second glaring need, but they addressed by drafting an exceptional talent. Trayvon Mullen was taken 40th overall in the second round and was the second player taken out of Clemson by the Raiders.
Clearly, the Raiders wanted talented players who were embedded in NFL ready programs.
When it comes to Mullen, the Raiders had to have fell in love with his physicality. He doesn’t shy away from tackling and can assert himself in the run game. That is the likely reason they stayed away from drafting Greedy Williams since he’s soft against the run. Mullen is also a solid coverage guy in both man and zone, so he’s a well rounded corner.
Ideally it would be man coverage for him, but if the Raiders can develop him into a sound coverage guy then the return on investment of drafting him will be an insane steal. It’s safe to say the Oakland Raiders secondary is the most talented it has been in years.
