Despite the fact that the Oakland Raiders signed Trent Brown this off-season, Kolten Miller is staying at left tackle.

When the Oakland Raiders gave Trent Brown $66 million dollars in free agency this offseason, everyone assumed he will be the future left tackle, and Kolton Miller will be pushed to the right side. However, as I mentioned previously, the pictures on the Raiders website depict Trent Brown playing RT, and Kolton Miller playing LT.

Although only pictures, nothing was 100% confirmed. That is until Jon Gruden’s presser on May 3rd. Coach Gruden was asked, “Have you made any decision on left tackle or right tackle.”

Gruden responded quickly, “we’re gonna start with uhh, Kolton at Left tackle, Trent will begin on the right side. Brandon Parker will be the swing tackle. We like that. That is a launching pad for us. Trent played very well at right tackle for San Francisco.”

Although some might be surprised that Kolton, who struggled a lot last year, is staying on the blind side of Carr, it makes sense. Trent Brown played three of his first four years on the right side. He is much more comfortable at that spot, and it’s a much smoother transition for him, then it would be for Miller. To move Kolton over to the right side could hinder the young tackle.

Gruden also confirmed Gabe Jackson will play right guard, and the left guard spot will be open for competition. One player to keep an eye on for the spot is UDFAS Lester Cotton Sr.
