The Oakland Raiders brought offensive guard Ritchie Incognito in for a workout on Monday, and it appears the two sides are headed towards a deal.

The Oakland Raiders are set along the offensive line in four of the five starting spots, with a guard job still up for grabs. While Gabe Jackson is entrenched as the starter on one side of the line, the other side is still a bit cloudy, though there are some options in-house that the Raiders could look at.

Denzelle Good is a solid offensive lineman, and undrafted free agent Lester Cotton Sr. is an absolute mauler from the University of Alabama. Still, the Raiders did something very questionable on Monday, as they brought in former Pro Bowl guard Ritchie Incognito in for a workout.

There has never been any question regarding Incognito’s abilities on the football field, but it is his issues off the field that have tarnished his image. From being accused of being a racist, to a very scary incident inside a funeral home, Incognito is someone to be weary about when rolling the dice on a new contract.

Raiders offensive line coach Tom Cable is notorious for running potential players through long drills, but it took less than two minutes for him to realize Incognito was in great shape. Now, the Raiders will play the waiting game, as there has been no word as to whether or not Incognito will be suspended for the funeral home incident.

Last year, Oakland traded a third round draft pick for Martavis Bryant during the NFL Draft, and had to wait and see whether or not he would be suspended. He eventually was late in the year, but not before an injury ended his season.

This would be a big risk for the Raiders, who are looking to change the culture within the organization before heading to Las Vegas. There is no doubt that Incognito is a very talented player, but he has a very checkered past, and hopefully he finally has his life in order if the Raiders do make this move.
