Oakland Raiders: What needs remain after the 2019 NFL Draft

The Oakland Raiders have had quite the offseason, as they have really improved this roster, but there are still some needs remaining.

With the passing of the NFL Draft, all of the key dates or events during the NFL offseason are now finished, unless OTAs are really a big deal to you, then that’s all that remains until training camp arrives. Looking back on the draft, it was wonderful sign to see Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock in unison. Unlike last year’s draft where Gruden and former general manager Reggie McKenzie both had separate boards.

This year’s draft had a goal and a clear theme. To draft players with prestige and immense physicality. Overall, the Oakland Raiders had themselves a good draft and it’s difficult to really think otherwise. Entering the draft, the Raiders needed to address so many of their needs while looking to add big time play making players.

No need was greater or more desperate than at edge/pass rush, so they had to take someone fourth overall to improve that. That is where Clemson defensive end Clelin Ferrell’s Oakland Raiders career begins as well as so many other players who helped addressed some needs.

However, as solid of a draft the Oakland Raiders had, there are still a few holes left in this team. It’ll be difficult to try to address that at this stage in the offseason, so development at these positions is going to be crucial. With that said, let’s start off with the first need that still remains after the 2019 NFL draft.
