The Oakland Raiders have officially signed first-round pick Clelin Ferrell, the team announced Tuesday on their website.

The Oakland Raiders signed their first of three first round picks in Tuesday, agreeing with former Clemson star defensive end Clelin Ferrell.

Ferrell was the 3rd defensive linemen taken from the board. The 6’4″ 267-pound defensive end signed his 4-year contract, with a 5th-year team option. Although the exact numbers aren’t public yet, we have a pretty good estimate of what he will get.

Prior to 2011, Contracts were much harder to negotiate by teams, however since the new 2011 CBA contract values are pretty much set in stone. We currently don’t have the exact figure, but according to OvertheCap.com, the 4th round pick the last 3 years made the following:

In 2018, Denzel Ward signed a 4-year deal worth $29,165,356.

In 2017, Leonard Fournette signed a 4-year deal worth $27,150,882.

In 2016, Ezekiel Elliott signed a 4-year deal worth $24,956,338.

Using the contract values from the past 3 fourth overall picks, the average value has gone up about 8% each year. Using that logic, If we had to guess today, Clelin Ferrel is going to get a 4-year deal worth roughly $31,498,584, with an average yearly salary of $7.9 million. Of course, like with all 1st round picks, the 5th year option is a team option.

Ferrell, a three-year starter at Clemson, started in all 44 games that he appeared in throughout his college career. He was a leader from day one according to his past teammates, and he helped get two National Championships for Clemson, in 2016 and 2018.

Over his career, he totaled 166 tackles, including 50 for loss, 27 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries. Ferrell is also a two-time first-team All American. Clelin Ferrell also won the Ted Hendrick’s Award, which is given to the nation’s top defensive end.

In his final year at Clemson, he was awarded as a first-team All-American selection, first-team All-ACC honor and was also named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year.

Next. Have the Oakland Raiders done enough to improve the pass rush?. dark

Clelin should help the Raiders defense out immediately and will be a day one starter for the Silver and Black.
