Oakland Raiders top-5 offseason moves that will be big contributors in 2019
The Oakland Raiders had quite the offseason, as they hit the ground running and never turned back. As training camp sits just four weeks away, let’s take a look at which moves will pay large dividends.
Owner Mark Davis and Jon Gruden turned the page immediately after the 2018 season ended, when they hired former NFL draft analyst, Mike Mayock. Mayock, one of the most respected figures around the league for his knowledge and preparation has now found himself in a role working next to the outspoken Gruden.
The two have meshed incredibly well over the offseason, signing high profiled free-agents, and selecting nine rookies in the draft.
Last season, Gruden received criticism from across the league for his older free-agent signings, as well as reaching on prospects in the draft, but with the duo of Gruden and Mayock, they’ve really flipped the script and brought in some key figures for the Raiders future.
On paper they’ve established a quality looking bunch with numerous acquisitions this summer, but after a disappointing 2018 season, the pressure is on for a successful year with it being their final season in Oakland.
