2019 Oakland Raiders position group preview: Cornerbacks

With all of the additions to the Raiders this offseason, it is easy to overlook the additions to the cornerback position, but it is a talented group.

If you were to relate the Oakland Raiders offseason these past six months into a movie title, then it would be Star Wars: A New Hope. With all of these additions to the team it’s no wonder why Raider nation is going stir crazy for the regular season.

At this point, even training camp would be a nice shot in the arm to temporarily satisfy the craving. And why wouldn’t it? Seeing Derek Carr tossing bombs to Antonio Brown never gets tiring and it’ll only expand come training camp.

However, it’s not just the addition of Antonio Brown and overall rework to the offense that spells excitement. The cornerbacks of the Oakland Raiders should definitely warrant some attention. I know, I know… we’ve heard this story before that the Raiders corners should be vastly improved, yet they never do. Even last year this time I was looking forward to the corners in action with Gareon Conley, Rashaan Melvin and Daryl Worley. Perhaps that’s just because I’m overly fond of the cornerback position.

In either case, 2019 is sure to quell the curse of the Raiders cornerbacks which has not seen any quality depth in so many years. I wouldn’t say it’s a lock that the corners this year finally come through, but it definitely feels different. With that said, let’s look at each of these Oakland Raider cornerbacks one by one.
