Trayvon Mullen

Of all the Clemson players the Oakland Raiders drafted, Trayvon Mullen is the one I’m most excited about (I may be a little bias there). Mullen is not a finished product, but what he brings to the table right now is consistency and physicality. Throwing him into the mix with Conley and Mullen gives the Raiders three quality cornerbacks.

Once again, we’ve seen this story before so be cautious when getting your hopes up.

However, you can’t help but feel it’s different this year. Maybe it’s because the Raiders drafted a guy out of one of the best programs in college football. Clemson is surrounded with NFL talent, which is why this upcoming training camp will bring the best out of Mullen. He’ll be right in his element with the high level of competition.

It’s nothing new to him at this point. What will be new to him is if he lets Daryl Worley beat him out of a starting spot. Mullen would be third on the depth chart, which I’m sure he won’t be too fond of.

That will just make his drive increasingly stronger. It’s why Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock wanted him. Of course it’s talent, but it’s his demeanor as well. His mindset to want to be great and be a leader. That was severely lacking last season and it should heavily influence the defense next season. Exciting things await for the future of Trayvon Mullen and it starts in 2019.
