5 offensive stats the Oakland Raiders need to improve on in 2019

The Oakland Raiders have multiple areas on offense they can improve on but here are a few stats, in particular, to focus on this season.

Of the big three sports, the NFL is far behind when it comes to using analytics, but the smartest teams in the league have indeed embraced the movement. And for the rest of the league, they will have to adapt or be left behind.

Finding that balance between what you see on the field and what the numbers are telling you.

For example, as much as we (myself included) loved seeing what the Raiders did in 2016, it wasn’t built to last. Numbers like point differential, drive success rate, and defensive DVOA didn’t bode well for their sustainability at the top. And even from the eye test, you could see their incredible record in close games though entertaining is usually not something that carries from year to year.

Jon Gruden has joked about analytics before but surely knows that if he wants to increase his win total, there are specific metrics that this team must improve on. And it is going to start with Derek Carr and the offensive side of the ball.

Let’s look at five basic and advanced stats the Raiders could improve on in 2019.
