Turnover Differential

This is a pretty obvious stat but not any less important. The Raiders were 26th in the NFL when it comes to the turnover differential with a -7 and the offense ranked bottom ten in giveaways with 24. Of the 12 teams that made the playoffs last season, only 2 had a negative turnover differential (Baltimore and Philadelphia), and 7 of the remaining10 ranked at the very top in this category.

So if you are in the upper half of this stat, there is a very high chance you will have a successful season. The Raiders were tied for first in turnover differential in 2016 which undoubtedly helped them go 12-4. Especially when you consider again how many close games they played in that season. 9 of their 12 wins were decided by 8 points or less so a turnover at the wrong time could have completely swung their fortune.

The Raiders have added a lot of firepower, but if they are sloppy with the ball again in 2019, it really could end up not mattering.
