Oakland Raiders: Top-20 players of the 21st Century
By Brad Weiss
Greg Biekert (1993-2001)
A seventh round selection of the Raiders back in the 1993 NFL Draft, Greg Biekert would go on to become an absolute tackling machine for the franchise. Playing with the team from 1993 through the 2001 season, he was a constant for the Raiders defense, racking up over 1,000 tackles, as well as 16 sacks.
From 1998 through 2001, Biekert was able to collect over 100 tackles per season, and while he ended his career in Minnesota, he will always be known for his actions playing for the Raiders. After becoming a starter in 1994, Biekert missed only five games, and eclipsed the 130-tackle mark on three different occasions.
Of course, Biekert was a part of one of the more infamous plays in Raiders history, as he is the guy who fell on Tom Brady’s “incomplete pass” in the Tuck Rule game. For Biekert, that was a fitting end to a career in the Silver and Black that saw him become one of the better linebackers the franchise has ever seen.
