Four observations from Oakland Raiders HBO Hard Knocks Episode 1
By Brad Weiss
Gruden and Carr are a perfect match
For all the talk this offseason, and really since Gruden returned to the sidelines, that the head coach did not like Derek Carr, they certainly looked chummy on Tuesday night. In fact, with Carr dropping dimes on the field, and Gruden absolutely loving it while looking on, it is clear that these two have a special relationship.
In fact, at the end of one session, Gruden was heard telling Carr that he loved him, so any thought of these two being at odds should be thrown out the window at this point. Heck, the two are slated to become next door neighbors next year when they move to Las Vegas, so this is a marriage that should last more than just the 2019 season.
Truth be told, Gruden is the perfect coach for Carr, as they are both incredibly hard workers, and have a tremendous love for the game. They are going to push each other, much like Gruden and Rich Gannon did, but that is only going to make this team better in the long run.
