Costly mistakes by Glennon.

Mike Glennon got the start with Derek Carr sitting out, and he made some solid throws. Glennon was 17-25 for 195 yards and did a good job taking what the defense was giving him underneath. However, when it came to intermediate and deep throws, he was very inconsistent.

Glennon wasn’t really stepping into his throws, and it led to him under throwing his passes. Fortunately, guys like J.J. Nelson, Ryan Grant, and Keon Hatcher were able to make some nice contested catches, but he also had to two bad interceptions.

The first was a pass down the seam where it looked like Glennon had pre-determined where he was throwing the ball.  Rams corner Kevin Peterson was reading it the whole way and jumped the pass with ease.

The next picked killed a drive that was almost certainly going to lead to points, but Glennon was way behind on an out route to Derek Carrier.

The one thing you don’t want from your backup quarterback is turnovers, so I’m sure those two interceptions will not sit well with Jon Gruden. Glennon will have a lot more time this preseason to prove he can protect the football, but he did not do it tonight.
