Oakland Raiders Stock Report: 3 up, 3 down from preseason game No. 1
By Kenny King
Stock down: James Cowser
James Cowser, a third year man out of Southern Utah, came to the Raiders in 2016 as an undrafted free agent. Cowser has been on and off of the practice squad over the past three years, and now with the strength of the linebacker corp increasing, Cowser must fight to earn a roster spot.
In the preseason opener, Cowser recorded one assisted tackle and often looked out of place throughout the game. During the offseason, Cowser was moved from defensive end to outside linebacker to help try and showcase his quickness and tackling ability, however Cowser was unable to capitalize on the opportunity.
This is a linebacker group that is vastly superior than the group from last season, so it is going to be very hard for Cowser to make the roster. He will get more play on Thursday night against the Cardinals, in what could be his final stand with the Raiders.
