Stock down: Eddie Vanderdoes

In sports, your best ability is availability and unfortunately the former 2017 3rd round pick from UCLA has been unavailable for the better part of his NFL career. Vanderdoes, who missed the entire 2018 season after suffering a torn ACL in the 2017 season finale, started training camp on the injury list again.

Vanderdoes recent injury is a concussion resulting form a non contact exercise on Day 2 of training camp. Vanderdoes is an extremely talented athlete and when healthy has been a solid player on the defensive line, however with the impressive play of Anthony Rush and the improved play of second year man, Maurice Hurst we are now unfortunately seeing Vanderdoes’ stock decline.

The bottom line is, this is a defensive tackle group that has plenty of depth, and for Vanderdoes, he may have missed his boat with the Raiders. If the Raiders do decide to move on from him, he will likely find a spot on someone’s roster, but the fact that he cannot stay healthy has to be alarming at this point.
