The Oakland Raiders continue their march towards the regular season on Thursday, as they take on the Arizona Cardinals in preseason game No. 2.

The Oakland Raiders kicked off their preseason in style this past weekend, beating the reigning NFC champion Los Angeles Rams. There were plenty of players who stepped up in that game, including J.J. Nelson, a speedy wide receiver who will get to face his old team in preseason game No. 2 on Thursday night.

Nelson and his Raiders teammates will  travel to the desert to take on the Arizona Cardinals, as they get their first chance to see 2019 first overall pick Kyler Murray. Murray, who spurned a career in professional baseball for the NFL, looked good in his NFL debut this past week, completing nearly all of his passes, but the Cards did not show much of their new Air Raid offense.

For the Raiders, they got a chance to see a ton of new faces get to work, as they sat out 27 of their regular players against the Los Angeles Rams. There are plenty of position battles for this team heading into Week 2 of the preseason, including at quarterback, where two veterans are battling it out to see who will be Derek Carr‘s backup in 2019.

In addition to QB2, the Raiders also have a heated battle going on at punter, where undrafted rookie A.J. Cole outplayed incumbent starter Johnny Townsend on Saturday night. There are also positions available up and down this roster, so expect another spirited effort out of this Raiders team against the Cardinals, who they beat in the regular season in 2018.

We will know more in the coming days which starters will not be on the field on Thursday, but expect another healthy dose of Nathan Peterman and Mike Glennon at the quarterback position. Preseason game No. 3 is usually when we get to see the starters, and the Raiders will have a long week to prepare for that one.
