The offensive line

Oakland is not just playing against division rivals to start the season, they’re facing injuries and suspensions as well. With Gabe Jackson out for eight weeks and Richie Incognito suspended the first two games, this preseason has been the time to settle the offensive line rotation to begin the regular season. In Jackson’s absence, its Denver Kirkland and Jordan Devey battling for snaps.

On the opening touchdown drive against Los Angeles, Kirkland looked solid. Gruden has said that Devey will get the first shot at filling the role. So far, it seems like the Raiders will use the full remainder of the preseason to settle on who will get to fill the void left by Jackson.

Just as in Week 1, Thursday night’s game against the Cardinals should be another sample of seeing where this positional battle is headed. In order for the offense to reach its potential in 2019, the offensive line must hold its own.
